Rocket Mortgage

Before the
world watched…

Every great campaign begins long before the cameras start rolling.

The Super Bowl is one of advertising's biggest stages.

By kickoff, the world sees 30 seconds of storytelling.

What they don't see are the conversations, strategic decisions, agency partnerships, and months of creative development that happen long before a single frame is filmed.

During my time at Rocket Mortgage, I had the opportunity to contribute to that early creative process for Rocket Mortgage's Super Bowl LIV campaign featuring Jason Momoa.

The Challenge

Rocket Mortgage was preparing for one of the year's biggest marketing moments while announcing a major partnership as the Official Mortgage Sponsor of the NFL.

The campaign needed to entertain millions while reinforcing a simple idea:

Home is the place where people can finally let their guard down.

Behind the Curtain

Before Jason Momoa started removing muscles...

There were months of conversations about agencies, strategy, positioning, creative risk, and how Rocket Mortgage wanted millions of people to think differently about "home."

That's where I came in. As a Creative Strategist, I participated in early conversations with our Executive Creative Director, helping evaluate creative approaches and agency thinking as the campaign took shape.

While the commercial itself was developed and produced by Highdive, I contributed during the early strategic phase and later supported internal promotion and social initiatives that helped build anticipation leading up to the Super Bowl.

Highdive's unforgettable concept imagined Jason Momoa revealing his "true self" at home, playfully bringing Rocket Mortgage's message of comfort to life.

Great campaigns aren't made on set. They're built long before the cameras roll.

The finished commercial made millions laugh. The behind-the-scenes footage reminds us how much invisible craftsmanship goes into making thirty seconds feel effortless.

My Biggest Takeaway

One of my biggest takeaways wasn't about the commercial itself.

It was seeing firsthand how much thoughtful strategy, collaboration, and trust happen before production ever begins.

Great campaigns aren't born on set.

They're built through conversations, questions, and shared creative conviction long before anyone yells "action."

That experience reinforced something I still believe today:

The most meaningful creative work begins with a story worth telling.
