
The Comet Competition
The Comet Competition with Ingram Micro and MassChallenge is a multi-location competition that seeks to identify and support the most promising B2B technology startups in the world. Winning startups will share over $1.5M in cash and go-to-market funds, join Ingram Micro at Cloud Summit 2019 to showcase their products in front of the largest gathering of technology resellers in the world, and develop a lasting relationship with Ingram Micro.

I was tasked with creating a simplistic logo for a new campaign named Comet. I was given a few days to turn it around because it was only projected to last a few months. My initial logo was a typeset logo. My idea was to choose a tall skinny font with a something complimentary that breaks the corporate mold of using sans serif.

Project Comet's name was changed to the Comet Competition. This meant I had to change the logo, but it also bought me some more time to conceptualize. The Comet Competition didn't look the same with a painted cursive font underneath. In my initial concept, I liked how "Project" tucked itself over the curve of the "C" in Comet. Now that the name changed, the logo had change as well. This time I wanted to find an different font. Something that had a feeling of extraterrestrial, universe, galaxy. Something clean, modern, yet different. This is where it wasn't as simple as a typeset font. I started hacking away at the letters, trying to create a sort of mystery without being cheesy. The logo below is the final concept and what is used for the campaign worldwide.
